The Prince of Egypt

The Prince of Egypt

A new stage production of “The Prince of Egypt” is bringing the story of Moses to the New York stage at Lincoln Center. Based on the 1998 DreamWorks animated film, the musical features a score by Stephen Schwartz, the award-winning composer behind “Wicked,” “Godspell,” and “Pippin.” The stage adaptation expands on the original film with additional music and a deeper look at the relationship between Moses and his brother, Ramses. The musical follows Moses as he discovers his Hebrew heritage and confronts his identity after being raised as a member of the Egyptian royal family. This story has been told many times on both stage & screen. Furthermore, “The Prince of Egypt” has previously been developed for the stage in both the United States and the United Kingdom. The musical received its world premiere at Theatre Works Silicon Valley in 2017 before moving to Denmark and later opening in London’s West End.
